In Commemoration of – Hero Ahmed Deeb

Ahmed Deeb A hero who raised the flag of his country and fell by treacherous bullets

Born in Baniyas in 1966, Ahmad Dib was an example of determination and strength, making his name in the world of bodybuilding locally and internationally. He won the Syrian Arab Republic championship for four consecutive years (1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992), and not content with that, he continued to shine internationally, achieving first place in the La Coruña and Galicia championships in Spain in 1995 and 1996. In 1997, he proved his worth among the world champions, achieving fifth place in the world.

In 2008, Ahmed returned to his hometown of Baniyas to dedicate his efforts to developing the sport he loved, establishing training clubs that contributed to the graduation of new generations of ambitious athletes. He was not only an athlete, but also a man of intellect and science, as he obtained a law degree and always endeavoured to spread knowledge and build a physically and intellectually strong generation.

However, on 8 March 2025, the treacherous hand reached out to steal the life of this hero during the brutal massacres committed by extremist groups in Baniyas. Ahmed Dib, who spent his life achieving achievements and raising the name of his country, was martyred by terrorism, but his memory will remain immortal, and his name will remain etched in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

The martyrdom of the hero Ahmed Deeb in the Baniyas massacres: A tragic story

On Saturday morning, 8 March 2025, the second day of the massacre, extremist factions continued their actions in the city of Baniyas, spreading terror and death among its residents. As the violence escalated, the family of Captain Ahmed Deeb gathered in their home in the Al-Qusour neighbourhood, trying to comprehend the horror of the events that surrounded them.

When the situation became more dangerous, the family decided to seek a safe haven within the city. They got into their car and set off, but at a checkpoint near Farouj al-Hamid, they were intercepted by armed terrorist gangs. The passengers were forced out of the car, thoroughly searched, and the men were then placed in a line on the pavement with a group of other previously detained civilians.

One of the gunmen allowed a civilian to leave, but ordered Ahmed Deeb to stay. His family members became anxious and begged and pleaded for his release, but the terrorist element violently refused and threatened them with death if they did not move away from him.

The terrorist groups mercilessly massacred everyone standing on the pavement, including the hero Ahmed Deeb, who later died from treacherous bullets on 9 March due to the lack of medical attention at the time.
