Ibrahim… A young man who was robbed of his future

Ibrahim was not just an ordinary young man, he was a spirit full of life, with a smile that never left his face. Born and raised in Baniyas in 1993, he was the youngest of his four siblings. From a young age, he was known for his unique sense of humour, and no session could pass without him filling it with laughter and happiness. He was sociable by nature, beloved by his friends at school and beyond, with a pure heart and a playful spirit. He loved football and was an avid follower of the game, especially during the World Cup, where he was a loyal supporter of the Argentine national team. He was also a lover of cinema, with good taste in choosing films, perhaps that is why he chose to study English literature, as he found in language and literary aesthetics what reflects his passion for art and life.

A young man who lived with dreams and passion and was kidnapped by treachery

Since childhood, Ibrahim was a naturally sociable person who surrounded himself with many friends who loved him for his playful spirit and kind heart. Wherever he went, he filled the place with energy and laughter, leaving a beautiful impact on everyone who knew him.

After years of hard work, Ibrahim completed his studies in English Literature, a major he truly loved. He was passionate about language and literature, finding in words a power to reflect his thoughts and vision of life. He was not just a student of it, he enjoyed its beauty in foreign books and films that he loved to watch passionately, as he found in it a vast world of culture and art.

In addition to his love of literature and cinema, music was his companion, as he loved listening to songs that touched his soul and gave him inspiration. His biggest passion was football, which he followed with enthusiasm, especially during the World Cup, where he never hid his loyalty to the Argentine national team, cheering for them passionately as if they were part of him.

Ibrahim was a young man full of life and ambition, with many dreams, but the hand of treachery chose to kidnap him before he could complete the journey he deserved to live.

Ibrahim. A dream extinguished by the bullets of terrorism

On the morning of 8 March 2025, after a bloody night of massacres and terror spread by extremist groups in Baniyas, Ibrahim and his family were looking for a safe refuge from the death that surrounded them from all sides. Little did anyone know that for some of them, this would be their last attempt and that they would not be able to leave the city alive.

Just one day earlier, tragedy had struck the family when his aunt, engineer Aphrodite Ibrahim, was martyredby these killers. As the danger intensified, Ibrahim, his father Professor Merhej and his brother Zulfiqar, an aspiring lawyer, decided to leave the house and look for a way out, while his mother and another brother stayed inside, watching anxiously.

But death was faster than hope. As soon as Ibrahim, his father and brother reached the entrance of the building, a car full of extremist gunmen stopped in front of them, as if they were waiting for them to come out. Without hesitation, they opened fire on them, martyring them in a few moments, as the sound of bullets filled the air. From above, his mother and brother heard the sound of bullets echoing like a stab in the heart, but the terror prevented them from coming down, only to realise that the people they loved most were gone for good.

That day was a witness to the most heinous of crimes, where innocent lives were taken for no reason other than blind hatred. Ibrahim, who dreamed of a future full of passion and hope, was not given a chance to live by terrorism. He passed away with his father and brother, leaving behind an irreplaceable void and a memory that will remain a witness to unforgivable brutality.
